Down the street from the fields is another amazing park along Riverside Drive. I think it's called 'Riverside Park.' haha I really don't know all that much about New York but I know it's got lots of parks! So as you can see I love Strawberry Fields, and from there I love 72nd street. One day I took myself to the edge of the street and that's where I found this park.
I was loving the view of New Jersey. I love seeing new things, and I'd never seen it before. It's amazing to be able to lean on a railing in Manhattan and look out over a body of water that separates you from an entirely other state that is so closeby. I don't think you can do that with Tallahasee and Georgia.

You can get lost
...in all of the shrubbery in New York City.
An area that never makes me feel jaded or too used to this place is the bottom of Central Park at 59th Street. Sometimes, back when I lived on the West side, I'd walk home from work along 59th Street and the walk would always take me hours because I'd get lost in all of the trees and horse-drawn carraiges and stone walls overlooking The Pond. I could never just pass through this area, I had to stop and take pictures of things I couldn't believe I was seeing... and looking back I still can't believe it! Sometimes I feel like I'm looking at a painting by that Ross guy... or maybe one by Edouard Manet, like Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe.
I get a treat once I reach the end of the park and walk into Columbus Circle. My favorite Jamba Juice is located just below the Time Warner Buildings :o)

This whole Strawberry Fields thing...

but what I really love about Strawberry Fields...
I used to hang out in Strawberry Fields a lot
- and this page looks like Christmas, but oh well.
So I'll start with the place my blog is named after: Strawberry Fields - where I spent most of my spare time last summer - with the sketchy stalker-types and little children running around. Kids will be pictured, stalkers will not. I still shake when I think about this place, and I never visit anymore. Maybe the only reason I used to spend so much time there is because I lived two blocks away. Now I live an uncountable number of blocks away and who knows if I'll ever go back to this dangerous, adorable, historical summertime wonderland.
With today being the first real day of Spring in New York City (as opposed to the real first day of Spring - March 21st), I feel like I'm just getting to know the city all over again and places I used to frequent have lost their magic and mystery and so I'm ready to try some new places for Spring and Summer '08.
*to you acute / sharp / whatever readers who spot this line, check back for more of my new york city photos. I have enough to last us all a lifetime—and they won't all be of Strawberry Fields, I promise! I couldn't possibly shake that much more...
